OPEN MINDEDNESS

When your mind is opened it leaves a chance for possibilities to take place, for someone or knowledge to be dropped into it, because an un opened mind can be likened to a closed book, an un-refined block of wood. Open mindedness is the secret to great discoveries.

As discussed in chapter one, the mind’s scope of connections is greater than the hundred thousand galaxies in our world. Imagine opening up all these connections, you will be known as a GENIUS. Let us begin to walk on the edge and find out how open your mind is.

What do you see in yourself?

Who were you created to be?

Do you accept yourself?

Have you made peace with yourself?

How far do you see yourself reaching?

What is the core of your self-belief?

What risks are you prepared to take?

What mountains are you prepared to climb?

Do you know that you will be knocked about a few times?

All these questions can be answered according to how open minded you are.

What do you see in yourself?

“Wood may remain 10 years in the water, but it will never become

a crocodile.” A proverb. In the same way, you will never be anything you do not see in yourself. Infact it is as highly impossible as the above quote. It will be irrelevant how long or how hard you try if you do not see yourself being the best you, it certainly will not happen. You are created in the image of God. Your mind needs to see you and your capabilities from the inside out.

Who were you created to be?

“If God had wanted you otherwise, He would have created you otherwise.” Goethe

If you try to walk in the footprint of another, you will miss out on leaving your own footprint. Many teens have found themselves engaging in activities only because their best friends were doing the same. That is not you and try as hard as you will, you will only end up beating yourself. Find your uniqueness. What brings that genuine smile to your face, that inner glow and inexplicable joy? Pay attention to your heartbeat and you will find the reason for your creation.

Do you accept yourself?

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Carl Rogers

There is more to you than what meets the eye. The Bible declares that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Take a detailed inventory of yourself. Look at the positioning of your eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Then look how well each functions. Is your mind open to see all this? Your self acceptance irrespective of everything will take you places.

Have you made peace with who you are?

“Until you make peace with who you are, you will never be content with what you have.” Doris Mortman. By virtue of the fact that you are still alive and reading this book means you are an achiever and have something you should be proud of. You are no push over; you need to be at peace with yourself so you can be more enlightened. Enlightenment comes when you are at peace with yourself.

How far do you see yourself reaching?

No one reaches the top without daring. Being destined for greatness requires you take risks and confront great hazards. Can you let go of your limiting thoughts, ideas and belief? Can you see the sky as your limit? Reach into your own special realm, where there is more than enough and sheer abundance for you and everyone.

Do you know that you will be knocked about a few times?

“It is not whether you get knocked down; it is whether you get up.”

Vince Lomdardi. Imagine a boxer who gets knocked down just in the first round in the boxing ring. What would you the observer think about him? It is the same with you, if with a little frustration you lie flat on your face, moaning and groaning about how life has dealt you with a massive blow. Get up, dust off the dirt and fight till the last round. You are built that way. You are dynamite!

What is the core of your self-belief?

It is not where you are from; it is not where you are set to go. Neither does it matter your skin colour nor your origin. It is not what is on you, but your self belief. It is what you think and how open minded you choose to be. Get one thing straight, nobody can make you believe in yourself, absolutely no one. You are the master of your own mind, the captain of your own ship.

Believe you are special, a jewel, an uncommon and precious stone. God smiles on you with fondness. He calls YOU by name, you are His. Walk in this belief!

What risks are you prepared to take?

If you never take risks, you will never accomplish great things and your life will not amount to much, because any successful person has had to go through their fair share of risk taking. You will learn that without risks there is no reward. You have to think outside the box and not end up doing what everyone else is doing. Be a pacesetter. A calculated risk taker. Just because you are advised to be a go-getter, a risk taker does not mean you are allowed to take unnecessary or foolish risks. Millionaires always take calculated RISKS learn from them.

What mountains are you prepared to climb?

What mountains do you fancy climbing? Listen to what Jesse Owens has to say, “We all have dreams, but in order to make dreams a reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort.” So it is not just the mountain you want to climb, but it is also what your input will be. Do not plan on being a good starter, but a poor finisher as is the habit of most. Do not hover at the foot of the mountain, neither climb half way and give up. Follow it through; there is great genius in finishing what you have started. Nobody is saying it is going to be easy. Stick to the original plan or change it if need be, but by all means satisfy your ego.

Every thing is possible in your life, it depends on how open minded you are.
